The 205 angine has a different mangemeant system - Trionic T7 as opposed to T5 for the lower output engines if I recall correctly. I think it also has a different exhaust and intercooler.... Apart from that, the block itself is practically identical. Certainly chiopping is an option, and various companies do offer upgrades for all of the turboed Saab engines. (Including the diese!)
