I hope you are talking about an 87 900 Turbo...I had an 87 900S and now drive an 87 9000S. I am looking at page 82, the spec. page from my 87 900 owners manual...The viscosity called for is 10W-30 (Alt. 5W-30, 15W-40) with API Service for Turbo SF/CD (preferred) or SF/CC (acceptable)...I used Castrol GTX 10W-30 and 10W-40 in my 83 900T. It had over 251,000 miles, when forced into the salvage yard by an accident. I used Castrol GTX 10W-40 in my 87 900S. It had 110,000 miles, when I bought it used and 146,900, when it was totalled in December 1997. I have been using Castrol GTX 10W-40 on the advice of my Saab independent since I bought the car, 12/31/97, with 145,890 miles. I change my oil and filter every 3,500 miles. It sits in my drive way with 225,217 miles. It uses no oil. I do use Militec-1 and have used it in all of my Saabs...The naysayers can rattle their swords, but I have used the product since Jan. 94, because it works. Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T
