The CD changer has never missed a beat, never skipped, never trashed a cd, and reads my cd-r discs like they were factory pressed. The wire is, or should be, under the trunk matt behind the driver's side wheel well (I have a '98 - 900S conv.) Installation took about 145 seconds. Hold the wire in one hand, the changer in your other, and press them together. I hope this helps. Marty
