(This is done from the top of the engine, looking down towards the rear of where the belt runs. - rotate the tensioner assembly counter clockwise. - as the assembly moves back, you will be able to line up a small (6mm) hole in the assembly with another hole on the bracket. Put a 6mm drill bit or suitable allen wrench in the hole to secure the tensioner in the released position. - The belt should now be loose A couple of other items: - you should buy a Haynes manual. - you should consider replacing the belt and the idler pulleys if it has not been done in 40K miles. - I'm not responsible if you fluck it up or break a finger.
