Subject: Re: 9000 vs. 9-5

The decision has been made, 9000 it will be. I drove a 99 9-5 5spd directly followed by a 93 Aero Auto today. Same roads, same corners. I much preferred the way the Aero handled on the corners and through the turns, it was much "neater" and didn't lean nearly as much. And I think it is incredible that it can take the corners like that yet still provide such a nice ride. I suppose it's all relative. The 9-5 is a nicer straight line freeway ride, not feeling the bumps quite as much, the luxury ride, but 9000 for taking the turns so well still gives a very nice freeway ride. I think I like the interior layout of the 9-5 better. As someone said, the 9000 is a little dated, but still very functional, showing how far ahead of it's time it was. The 93's stereo is a little outdated, but that can always be changed, and of course anything from 94 or 95 on has the better stereo. My only complaint is the lack of cupholders. The Taurus ones are a possibility, but only if I replace the stereo and take out the equalizer. Oh and the fact that in the 93 the steering wheel is fixed, no telescoping. Not sure how this is going to fit into long rides and having the knees closer to the dash, coupled with the lack of a specific lumbar support adjustment. Now the big question is: the 93 Auto (yes I have seen quasi's page and the Aero link from there, but it seems a good deal and the warranty to cover the auto is affordable), a newer 97 Aero 5spd, or a 98 CSE 5spd (per Saab the suspension IS NOT the Aero suspension, and of course the seat issue). Decisions, decisions...
