Uh, Dave, guess again! I *do* write software for a living, and have since 1988 (with a couple of years off to play mechanic). The folks that developed the original software had a very hard job, and I don't envy them one bit. However once the initial work is done, tweaking the fuel/boost/timing maps is not difficult - I've done it myself (made my own chip and APC mods on an '86 SPG). Testing your changes involves some work, but I still don't think it justifies the price they're charging. I seriously doubt they're doing stress analysis of the drivetrain components or long-term durability testing. Emissions testing and certification (if applicable) is another issue, on which I have to plead ignorance.
