Exhaust flex joint, braided metal covering, about halfway down the underside of the car. We haven't looked that closely at it, but a long-term Saab-owning friend of ours recently observed that it looks welded in rather than bolted, and will be a bit of a pest to replace. Yeah, we need to pull the exhaust apart, but with nothing other than onstreet parking available where we live, it's not the world's most convenient thing to do. I wish the aerial problem were as simple as lubrication; naturally we've given several things a go - rp7 and similar, graphite, but still it goes up, up, up , and down...dow-stop. It is a pain. I'm still pretty happy with it overall - at least the list's only three items long. Other cars I've owned were way beyond listing! > >> Out of curiosity, has anyone experienced a problem with the foam in >> the driver's seat being sliced up by the metal frame, to the point >> where some major mods along the lines of plastic tubing, webbing and >> contact adhesive were necessary? > >How heavy are you? never mind... Gee whiz, you must be a real hit with the laaadies, how delightfully tactful of you. ;) In answer I would say not very, definitely not sufficient to cause this. We bought the car third, or possibly fourth-hand, and the original driver's seat was pretty stuffed - padding flattened and skewed, and a split in the covering. We paid $250 for a replacement seat, plus $40 worth of steam-cleaning (I was underwhelmed, putting it mildly), because the vehicle it came from had had a serious fire, so there were smuts all over it. In the six months or so since installation, we found increasing amounts of foam chopped onto the floor of the car, and pulled it apart last weekend to investigate, A completely unfinished (in the sense of sanded or sealed) metal edge had sawn through the foam which forms the back of the seat. And the seat heater was busted, which we specifically requested be functioning when we bought the seat. Poop. Thanks for the comments, anyway :) Selkie_23 .. The problem with explosives is that if you screw up, you're not just history, but biology, geography and modern art as well.
