Thanks Mangus and Tod. >>I would never have nothing else but real winter tires!!<< > If you want a great snow car, put a set of Hakka snow tires on your car.< It's a 5 speed. And I do keep the clutch depressed, so it looks like I'll have to go with winter tires. I never had to for 20 years, so this type of need is new territory. The snow season is so short where I live (2-3 months at best) that I was hoping to get away with my all-seasons as I used to, but it's not to be. I'll look into the Hakka. >>are U sure your ABS is working? Also if they are working, remember that its a different deal to drive a car with PowerBrakes and ABS!<< >try pushing the clutch in. This releases the friction from the front tires and encourages the car to turn.< I would not know how to tell if my ABS brakes are working, but they must be. It's as though when I put my foot to the brake pedal the car slows at a different rate than I'm trying to slow...it feels like the car has a delayed reaction to the rate at which my foot presses the pedal. (clutch is in , of course) At the point when my foot is all the way down on the brake and the car is not stopping, my reflex reaction is to ease my foot off of the brake and then press down again. Maybe this reflex comes from never having power brakes--before, I would be controlling the pumping action in case of emergency. It isn't the same with power brakes.
