You did the right thing by going in an educated consumer and walking out when you weren't haveing your reasonable terms met. You certainly were not being unreasonable. My friend just went to lease a 1999 BMW 528, and they not only wouldn't budge on the payments or value of the car, when he was talking to the dealer he said that BMW's are in such demand now in the States that they clear $2,000 to $2,500 per car. Ridiculous IMHO. Check you Sunday paper. I know that here in Massachusetts I see quite a lot of deals on Saab Aeros every weekend. Don't forget, each week that passes brings that dealer's inventory closer to becoming 2 model years old, as the 2003's gear up to rollout for most makes. If you don't have your heart set on a new, new car, you may want to get an Aero coming off of a 3 year lease. The early depreciation is gone, and you get a great car at a discounted price. I don't fault people for buying new, though. It is nice to get a brand new car that you can manage the maintenance on from day 1. If you aren't in a rush, wait until the Fall, when Saab dealers start to dump their 2001's and 2002's. Good luck! JJ > >Armed with everybody's advice, I went to the dealer today to play >hardball.
