In actuality, most Americans are taught that locking the doors makes them less likely to open in an accident. Most Americans lock the doors of their cars before/as they drive away. A car that locks them automatically is therefore safer. (Whether or not this safer is a matter of some debate in this newsgroup... we don't really need to discuss that again). Bob
