A&M, Whoosh is perfectly normal behaviour, but is normally made inaudible by design. Would you believe that some people actually go out of their way to make the whoosh audible. These people are called "Boy Racers". Er ... actually I'm considering doing just this on my Suzuki Cappuccino, but please don't tell anyone. The simplest way to achieve this is (generally) to use a low impedance air filter (e.g. one by K&N). It's just possible, that your air filter has been replaced with a lower inpedence type or may have become torn. Worth a quick look I think.
