To confirm my post in the 'Optimax' thread, I experimented once by cruising at 55 on the M74 resulting in 40mpg on the SID which I was able to verify by doing my sums later. I get about 33-35mpg by keeping at 80, and about 24mpg for around town work. 2001 9-5 Aero auto.
