There is mild resistance in the switch. I cannot compare as I only had the car for a few months and it has been like this since I had it. I do know that the switch must be connected to the flap because the switch does work. That is, if I rotate it to hot, then it is very hot, but if I rotate it to cold, then it is warmish. I suspect that the flap just doesn't entirely close when it should. As for running airconditioning all the time, well this is what I'm doing but I want to avoid it. I'm in Australia, & summers do get hot, so the last thing I want is to heat at this time. I guess I wil have to try to get to the flap. Hopefully I can get to if by pulling the glove box out (taking out the dash top seems more trouble than it's worth). Has anyone any instructions on removing the dash top by the way? And can anyone explain how dial works? For example, does the dial pull a cable to open/close the flap or does an axle on the back of the dial somehow open the flap? Is it a flap or a valve & can anyone describe where it is located & what it looks like, so I know what I'm looking for. thanks Bryan
