Stick with the 4, it's more robust, more tune-able, and a true Saab engine. Timing belts are one problem with the 6, and the fact that it wasn't designed by Saab's engineers is, quite frankly, another problem. The 4 is solid; my last Saab (an '88 900T with the previous design of inline 4) went 250,000 miles and was going strong when I traded it in. The 2.3 Litre engine is at least as solid of an engine as the previous design. Dave Hinz
