Even if that distance would have been equal the other important distances and angles would have been different. The shape of the 9-5 roof is different than the roof of the 9000. Note that even the front and rear racks are different! Saab probably changed the distance between the holes to avoid using a roof rack that can't be safely mounted. > this stinks. Not many parts for the 9000 will fit the 9-5, e.g. wheels and floor mats. That's life. > Saab wants to suck another $100 out of me to update my roof rack! $100 is not worth arguing about. > There is no excuse for this. This is very un-Saab like. The roof rack for the Saab 95 didn't fit the 99. The roof rack for the Saab 99 might have fit the 900. The roof rack for the Saab 900 didn't fit the 9000. The roof rack for the Saab 900 didn't fit the new 900. The roof rack for the Saab 900 didn't fit the 9-3. The roof rack for the Saab 9000 didn't fit the 9-3. The roof rack for the Saab 9000 didn't fit the 9-5. The roof rack for the Saab 9-3 will probably not fit the new 9-3. Saab would be stupid if they restricted themselves to only use a roof shape that was compatible with old roof racks instead of using the roof shape that gives the best strength, interior space, safety, and fits the style of the rest of the car. Using the best shape for the job is very Saab-like. -- G–ran Larsson http://www.nospam.com
