No. You can pull it out from the front. *Carefully* put a small screw driver behind the switch and just wiggle it out. You should protect the dash and the dummy switch beside it with a couple layers of masking tape or thin cardboard. You can pull it out in about 5 seconds. The connector on the back has two clips that you need to squeeze and it will pull right off. You can do the entire job in about two minutes. Bob
