Subject: Re: Vibration in 900 T16S

I had this problem for some time on my 9000. It is possible to achieve balanced wheels, but still experience a distinctive vibration, which is especially noticable on smooth roads. Get your tyre specialist to put just the rims on their balancing machine, to check for out of round. Bet this is your problem. Chris "Abdallah Jamal" <abdallahnopsamAMnopsamrgate.ca> wrote in message news:udtgo79ehel5a8nopsam.supernews.com... another thought: i have a set of alloys that have been balanced and rebalanced but one of the wheels seems to have had a hard enough knock that it's slightly out of whack. it just can't be balanced right. i have the same vibration problem as you describe. though the vibration starts at around 100kph (60mph) and cuts out once i've exceeded 130 to 140kph (~85mph). the last balancing got the wheel to a point where the vibration is tolerable. so i just try not to drive at speeds between 100 and 140 !! The rear tyres are new, I asked the garage to replace them when I bought the car because there wasn't a lot of tread left. The front tyres aren't new, but they have reasonable tread, and that's all I really looked at when I bought it. Bearing in mind that the tracking _was_ definitely off when I had it checked, I guess it's quite likely that they've had uneven wear. I'll have a look at them -- do you think the problem would be obvious to someone who doesn't know exactly what he's looking for?
