Unless you enjoy working on the car on the side of the road, I would have the car checked out before you leave. Replace anything questionable to minimize the need for replacing anything during your trip. Fresh fluids certainly could not hurt, especially on 5k miles trip. It could not hurt to carry spare fan belts, but the only car I needed spare parts on the road for was a Ford - it certainly lived up to it name (Found On Road Dead).
