I have a '96 900se too. It tuned out to be the head unit. I had to mail it to Clarion in CA with a check for $110 and it came back a month later - the changer worked. It's something in the software in the head unit. It's easy to remove, the head unit. Have I written the "head unit" enough times? Jesus Christ....
