(After all, the power needed by the A/C has to come from somewhere.) If your car's idle boost is not working right, the load of the A/C slows the already slow-running engine -- in your case towards a stall, by the sounds of it. Naturally, when you tread on the accelerator, you automatically select a setting that provides enough fuel to make up for the bad adjustment. -- Andrew Stephenson
