Yes it's common and been discussed many times... First trace the glass onto a piece of paper so you have a template in case you break it, lose it again etc. A glass shop can cut you a new one much cheaper than replacing the whole mirror. I used an epoxy meant for auto trim, stuck it in place with wedges under the bottom edge to keep it from sagging, wrapped some rubber bands around the housing and stuck some blocks between the rubber bands and the face of the glasss to press it into place against the rubber backing. Let it sit over night and voila...
