I must disagree with you there. The drivers seat in a car with leather gets quite abused from daily wear, especially on saabs, where they can achieve quite high mileage. Saabs leather is quite a bit stronger than some of its competitors though. I would suggest any type of hide food especially for the drivers seat as it gets the most wear and needs to maintain supple.
