You dont say what year your car is and my Haynes workshop manual indicates the method of removal does vary. In my case I removed the carboard/carpet panel; from the footwell at the side of the centre console to give access behind the radio... you may not need to do this, but it helped in my case cos I had to run a CD changer cabel to the boot. The ld radio came out with a combination of a piece of coat hanger wire down each of the four holes on the front of the unit and moderate pressure from behind. I bought a wiring loom adapter from an audio accessory shop which converted the Saab wiring loom to the connector on the rear of the head unit and simply pugged in at both ends. I retained the standard wiring (you can replace it with thicker stuff and it perhaps makes a difference, but the standard loom was fine for me) Then I slipped the "cage" for the new stereo in bent back the cutouts in the cage to hold in place and slipped the new unit in. Whole job should not take more than an hour. Your car could of course be different (seperate CD player etc) but i didnt find it that tricky though I have done many similar installs before.
