Subject: Re: Saab 9-3 2.2 Tid Fuel Consumption.

I have just bought a new 9-5 TiD Estate, The 800 miles so far I have averaged 39.6mpg with mixed driving. Used about 3/4 Litre so far of oil but I expect this will drop. Would like to worn people, I ordered as an import, great value, but the from coil springs still had shipping wedges in them for my first 100 miles till I looked underneath. The symptom to will notice for this is a stiff under damped ride. In article <6b7407a0.0206301218.5641451bnopsaming.google.com>, loz <newsgroupnopsammaster.co.uk> writes >I have just bought a new Saab 9-3 2.2 Tid, it's the new 125 BHP model. >So far I am surprised at how high the fuel consumption is. >I am averaging about 35 MPG (29 Miles per US gallon or 12.4 km per >litre). >The milage is mostly on motorways doing between 50 and 70 MPH (80-112 >km/h). >All of my milage is done with the Air Conditioning on. >I have tried resetting the computer, then driving about 10 miles doing >a constant 70 MPH and get 43MPG (35.8 per US Gal or 15.2 km per litre) >with the air conditioning on or 46MPG (38.3 per US Gal or 16.3 km per >litre) with the air con off. > >I have been deliberately driving very carefully to try to achieve good >consumption, so I would expect even worse figures when I start driving >normally. > >From memory, the brochure states around 34 MPG for Urban cycle or >56MPG for highway cycle. > >I have only done around 1000 miles. > >Can anyone say if they are acheiving better figures with the same >engine, either with a new car or one with a higher mileage. >Would I expect a significant increase as the car gets run in more, or >when it gets its first service ?
