Subject: Re: Brand new rear brakes: are smoking pads normal?

The parking brake is the key, you have to adjust the calipers with a special set screw located under a plug which looks like a standard capscrew. Most mechanics unfamiliar with Saabs may not know about that and damage the calipers by not backing it off when collapsing them. They must also be reset using the screw to ensure the proper park brake lever travel.
