July 4th I made 2, fairly long, hot-weather trips in my '89 SPG 900, and was it was discouraging: the AC just couldn't keep up with the heat, and on high position, the air flow would also diminish every time I went up a hill. And as if that wasn't enough, my hooter valve, replaced just last year, started making 'chirping' sounds. I was expecting expensive maintenance to the AC, maybe a con- version, since R12 is now unavailable, and who knew what else? Instead, a 17-cent repair fixed all 3 problems. Yep, the vacuum hose to the recirculation vent (under the front right side of the hood) had deteriorated and come loose. A bit of new hose and a connector and .... it even seems that the engine is running better now. Check those vacuum hoses, kids, there's CHEAP satisfaction out there for some of you. Lloyd ***** .
