Subject: Re: Should I use synthetic oil?

"Not sure how true this is, but folks claim it has to do with the molecular size of the oil - synthetic is smaller, so it leaks through holes that normal oil doesn't." I thought it might have something to do with the synthetic oil breaking down the molecular structure of the rubber that they used in this vintage. We'll have to consult a lubrication expert. "But, yes, find out what the last guy used." "Do let us know please, as whatever it is, seems to work." Will do. I talked to someone at the Saab garage where all the previous owners had there work done (I bought the car from a person who's father is a mechanic at this garage) & he said that any good quality oil would suffice. He did say that using synthetic oil would cause leaks. "Does this engine have a turbo? Is that original if it's there?" The engine does not have a turbo. Mark
