Everyone who hangs out in this newsgroup and those who have a lot of car experience know this, but I'm not so sure the average person does. It's been drilled into everyone to get their oil changed, but I suspect the motoring public does not know what "interference" is, or that belts from different manufacturers have different maintenance frequencies... or even that they need to be changed. While searching the web for some data on this issue, I ran across an article that indicated Toyata has designed timing belts out and timing chains back into their Camrys for 2002. Bravo. It's too bad these engines weren't designed with two tandem belts, side-by-side, so that if one broke you would have an opportunity to get it serviced.
