Nobody here is saying it is a great engine. On the contrary. These unloved v6 Saabs are floating around on the used market at ridiculously low prices for a reason. All Saab L4 engines (including the new GM 4cyl in the new 9^3) have a timing chain. IMO a v6 OHC with a timing belt is asking for trouble. It is too long to have much life. An interference v6 with a timing belt is adding insult to injury. Interference engines come in many flavors including 4 cyl and 6 cyl. Most higher performance engines are interference. This is well known to many in the service industry. If you own one, it is in your best interest to know about it and maintain for it. The link is a site listing many NA engines and their interference designation. http://www.ourautoshop.com/timing.html interestingly, the Saab v6, on this site, lists no change interval, though it is clearly indicated in the owner's manual... Try searching on 'interference engine' under google. KeithG <snip> > If this engine is so great, why did they only sell it for two years? It was > only sold in 94 and 95.
