Maybe the year of the car is part of the thing here. I have an '88 16T SPG and I
changed the bulb in the parking lot of the local Pepboys. It took, uhm, 4 minutes.
The manual was rather clear, but you have to DO it before you can understand what it
is the manual is indicating about the spring.
