I have a 2000 9-3, and I recently drove a 2002 9-3 loaner, and I didn't notice any big differences in the footwell size. I have size 13 feet, and the small footwell bugged me a lot at the beginning (space for the left foot is a problem too). But after a while I got used to it, and it's not an issue now.
