Subject: CE Light

I posted about this once before, but the story gets stranger... 1998 SE Convertible with A/T. New plugs and fuel filter. CE light goes on about three weeks ago. The code on the Tech II came up as a Too Lean Condition with no obvious leaks in the system as a cause. The next step was to have my mechanic clean and reseat the O2 sensor. But, after driving the car for a week or more with the light on, it mysteriously went off! My mechanic said to leave it alone until it happened again and sure enough, after 5 days, and I should add, within 10 miles after filling the tank,it came on again. I should note that the car has been running great, averaged over 30mpg on the highway this weekend, boosts fine. A couple of anomalies though: checked the MPG while driving on the highway (light off) and for about a 20 min stretch, it was reading 75MPG! Eventually, it came back into normal range. Also, it took an extra crank to start up this morning. No real problem, but usually it fires up immediately. Anybody have any thoughts on the cause? Thanks, Mike
