Are they of Swedish design or American > design? No, the engines are actually German design (Opel) with a big Saab makeover. Apparently the 2.0 turbo is a derivative of the 190hp Opel engine uses in the Astra coupe. Same for the platform. They are losely based on the Opel Vectra, but also heavily modified by Saab. Saab was actually already involved at the moment the Vectra platform was designed. Just remember that the 9-5 also uses a platform which is based on the Opel Vectra. I, at least, do not see that many simularities when I compare a 9-5 to a Vectra. -- Mager
