The SID displays the service message after a certain mileage (1000km before next service) or time (365 days since last service). The mileage and time counters should have been reset by the dealer at the time of the last service. > I have a 2000 9-5 and the regular maintenance interval is every > 10,000 miles. The SID knows nothing about how you drive and if the maintenance procedure was followed, it just counts miles and days since the last service. The message is just a reminder to book the next service. If the mileage and time counters are set incorrectly then the "time for service" reminder will be displayed at the wrong time. If the "time for service" message appears you can reset it yourself using the method is intended for drivers that maintain the car themselves: * Push CLEAR momentarily. * Push CLEAR again and hold it at least 8 seconds until SERVICE is displayed and a beep is heard. -- G–ran Larsson http://www.nospam.com
