Subject: Re: unfair criticisms?????

Hi, I have owned several "classic" 900¥s, now I own a new model 900S 2.3 with just over 100.000miles on it, and I have to say it¥s more dull, but also much more reliable (no frozen locks during wintertime!!!). If it comes to characteristic looks the old 900 wins (but and if there is a nice one available I¥d probably buy it again) but the old 900 lackes refinement and is basicaly a technical very simple car (as the Volvo 240 is also) there was much "handwork" on the old 900 that was the main reason that it took more time to built, a car build by robots is better build, that is for sure. No rust on a ¥93 new model anywere but if you look under the bonnet of the old 900 you will find some rust for sure, there are no Lucas (Prince of darkness was o so true) electrical parts one the new one but the old one had numerous, there are many GM parts on it, but what does it mather, they are proven reliable and give me a fun car to drive. The new one is the better car but it lacks the specific emotional feelings that the old one gave me, so... it all comes on emotions, ask yourself the question witch car turns you on, and that will probably be the car that is word the money. Lots of succes buying another SAAB Gert-Jan "dave" <nospamnopsamom> schreef in bericht news:ak8m2k$jg6$1nopsamg4.svr.pol.co.uk... > There seems to be a debate running over Saab quality, particuarly now GM are > involved, mostly in the negative,I'd be interested to hear the opinion of > anyone who has driven 900(classics)and any new models 93's particuarly-when > I bought my 1986 900 Turbo the guy I bought it from told me that Saab used > to take 40 hours to build a car and are now down to 24,25 hours-I guess this > could be taken as meaningless but the point he thought he was making was > that build quality was suffering-I'm really tempted to buy a new Saab, not > least for the advances made in general in car construction but am generally > happy with the "evergreen" 900.Is it really fair to say that quality is on a > downward trend-I thought maunfacturing was all about quality and > delivery, considering the 65% domination of the 4-door convertible market(UK > sales only I think)I hardly see a problem there-obviously a NG like this > will naturally be dominated by the more problematic sides of Saab ownership > that's no real unbiased cross section then is it?(notwithstanding the posts > in praise-though maybe bias there too). > So lets hear what you have to say..............if it's constructive!! > >
