Originally 900 Turbo16S meant you got 3-doors, lowered stiffer suspension and bodykit. I had a 1985 4-door turbo 16 175bhp (non S) this just looked like a standard car but had all the electric bits and bobs, alloys and rear spoiler. S meant 'sports' but also 'special equipment' on later lower end cars. Saab used to do S and T option packs in the early/mid 80's, T pack was a turbo handling package.
