Mac, My '92 9000 CS has the alarm/immobiliser defeat at the back (ie front!) of the glove box. If yours the same as mine then you will need the stubby cylinder-key to throw the switch. The problem with the remote control units (of '92 era at least) is in the soldering of the battery tabs onto the circuit board. Both mine have suffered this same problem .... several times. Last fix was a couple of years ago now, so I must have used good solder at last. Apart from that the remotes seem very reliable. PS: Don't keep the soldering iron on the circuit board too long, or you'll just fry the whole thing.
