Subject: Re: Starter replacement on '89 900?

Thanks Grunff for the advice. We pulled it out w/o too much of a problem (it was a helluva alot easier than removing one from a '89 Hyundai!). Thankfully the flexgear looks good & I will be driving it again soon. I feel like a fool though for not imediately stopping it when I saw that both brake lights were on. In other vehicles that I've owned usually just the main brake light will come on when the fluid is low but I thought maybe this was designed differently. Mark "It's a piece of cake! You don't need the Haynes for a starter - just look at the thing, and work through it methodically. When I take them off, I prefer to remove the throttle body and the clutch cover - it makes life *much* easier. But it really shouldn't take more than 30-45mins first time round. Removing the clutch cover is a particularly good idea in your case, so that you can inspect your ring gear for damage. Don't forget to disconnect the battery first. -- Grunff"
