Subject: Re: Thinking of buying my first saab - what to look for?

Many replies have covered reasons why I prefer a 900 - a Classic . . . However, if you are looking for a newer Saab, look for the 1998 900 model - they should have worked the bugs out by that year. As for the 1999 9-3s, the same logic applies, don't buy the first year of a new model. The other thing to consider is the maintenance cost of the model. Check with your local Saab shops and find out how they treat their customers. Some independent shops prefer working on the Classics and are not experts on the newer models. Some of the dealers just don't seem interested in taking care of their customers. Check with previous postings, especially those from Saab drivers in England - they have experienced this situation. These cars are fun to drive, and good luck with whatever Saab you get!
