I investigated the Bridgestone Turanza but the price quoted to me in Sydney was $345 for the ER50 - the inferior Grid2 was quoted at $228 fitted. If you can get the ER50's at $220, go for it!!! I was very frustrated and commented to my Saab dealer when I took it in for the 60000km service, saying I couldn't find good replacement tyres and no-one had the latest Michelins available. He said, "have you checked with us?" I said no, so he went to the computer and said he had 12 MXV3A's in stock at $306 each including fitting, so I said go for it. Have you checked with your Saab dealer? Mine was Northshore Saab at Brookvale in Sydney. You must do a lot of driving to have gone through 2 sets of tyres already! I got 60000 km out of my first set of Michelins, and they wore pretty evenly, so perhaps you need to get a 4-wheel wheel alignment to make sure you are tracking properly. My front ones wore more than the rear ones of course, so had to get them rotated front to rear. That is normal for front wheel drive. I looked at cheaper Oz tyres like the Goodyear GA+ and Dunlop Monza 200R at around $180 each, but wasn't prepared to take the risk. I was also advised against them by several independent tyre dealers who said that I would get less than half the mileage of the Michelins- and they were not selling Michelins so had no commercial advantage. No-one said anything against the Turanza ER50's though, so at that price it sounds like a good deal. They are supposed to be very quiet, and if they prove to be no good, you can always eat them: they say they are made with "Donut" technology. :-) -- Regards, Peter Wilkins
