Subject: 9000T manual transmission

The 5spd. transmission has failed on my 1991 9000T. I have been able to get the transmission out of the car, but before I arrange to exchange it for a different one, I was hoping to open the case to see what had failed. If it was only a few parts, I thought I might try to get them and repair it myself. Unfortunately, I haven't quite figured out how the case comes apart. Has anyone done this before? Any tips would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know of a more reasonable source for internal transmission parts than the Saab dealer? I priced a few parts and a replacement main 2nd gear is almost US$400, and none appear to actually be in the US at this time. Helical gear teeth started dropping out when I was draining the oil, so more parts might need replacement. Even so, I would like to see what happened and take some pictures that I might post later.
