What valve? 9000s don't have heater valves like C900s do - the hot/cold knob simply controls the airflow (through core/not through core). You symptoms are classic 9000 heater core failure. I can't comment on whether the AC needs to be disconnected, because I've never changed the core on a 9000 with AC. -- Grunff
