I *think* it's just a spring-ring that holds it in in a groove, like the V4's. I don't remember being surprised by anything when I did it a few years back, so I'm 99%+ sure that's it. You'll need to give them a jolt, outwards, to get them out. Think: lever with clearance to work. A shock works better than steady pressure, to get that snapring out of it's groove.
