I don't think I'll need too much really. The main damage is the boot. The rear lights are not smashed, only the reflector behind the registration plate. I really do think I'll get away without having to actually *replace* anything other than the boot. My other Saab (Inga) will gladly donor the parts :) The back-end of the pre-1986 models (flat nose) has the same back end as the later c900 models from what I can tell ... that shape goes back earlier into the Saab 90 model I think. >> Thanks again to all who sent me commiserations and words of comfort in my >> time of distress - I hope you'll join me for the re-birth in a few weeks >> when she's fixed. > > Weeks? Wow. Yes, please do post pointers to your pictures once they are > available. A step-by-step might even be quite interesting; before, during, > after, that sort of thing? Hopefully ... my thoughts on the procedure are: 1. Jig the car. If this is good, I'm more than half way there. 2. Panel beating and other minor ironing out. 3. Prep the car for MOT (with the busted boot), so I don't have two Saabs off the road - I couldn't stand *just* having the Hyundai and *no* Saab. 4. If it fails, replace the boot (and do any other grumbles from the MOT people) with a good boot from my other Saab (Inga), taking that one off the road. 5. Re-MOT - WOO! HOO! we're back on the road with Orca :) 6. Patch up any paintwork, minor re-sprays and total re-spray of the boot. Fix the whale fin spoiler to the re-sprayed boot at this time. 7. Good as new and grinning :) 8. Other mechanical gubbins to do (the clutch needed a little TLC and the handbrake didn't always hold), swapping all the good bits off Inga (dash, shocks, brake calipers, stereo, chrome plated rocker cover, etc). 9. Do a good service - oil change, sparks, air filter (get a K&N), etc changed. 10. Strip Inga of anything useful (windscreen, dash bits, steering column stalks, switches, electric window motors, windows, engine pipes, etc) and place in the cellar along with half of my old 900 Turbo and scrap Inga's shell. 11. Make appointment with Trent Saab to get a dump valve (sorry, BOV), purely for the noise, and the turbo looked over for optimum stock tuning and maximum fun. 12. Get an "Orca" decal for the boot/rear window :) I will get photos done. The first installment will be the crashed car when I get those developed. The best will no doubt be the jig, or the odd-coloured boot :) Come on Orca :) Paul 1985 Saab 900i 16V 1989 Saab 900 Turbo S 1992 Hyundai S Coupe MVi http://pjgh.go.dyndns.org/saab/index.html
