Could be the auto trans position switch located on top of the transmission (it is crescent shaped, located just below the battery). Had it replaced on my 94 900s. Mine would limp home and not restart until the computer timed out. The Saab dealer said they replace a lot of them when it gets cold outside. $500 parts & labor. The "Check Gearbox" light problem has gone away on my 94 900s.
