Hard to say - could be the turbo. How many miles? What is the oil-change history? Any unusual smoke coming out of the tailpipe (blue? black?) How is the boost? You can have an awful lot of turbo whine before the boost starts getting iffy, though. Is it related to engine speed, or road speed, or more like the boost gage? Lots of questions, but I can't hear it from here... hope this gives you a starting point? Dave Hinz
