Subject: 9000 2.3T questions and impressions

I have just recently switched from a classic 900 Aero LPT to a 1998 9000 2.3T Anniversary and have a quick question relating to the boost pressure - how far into the orange sector of the boost guage should the needle go under hard acceleration? I have noticed some variability from day to day in how spritely the car feels but this may just be to do with how inclined I feel to really plant my foot or exert progressive pressure on the accelerator. I am not clear yet whether it is necessary to floor it to get full boost or whether boost simply correlates with rpm. The car does feel very rapid but is also exceptionally civilised if you just pootle about. I am really pleased with the car in general and so far only a few small irritations: the climate control unit squeaks in the dash as the car flexes about and the clutch pedal sometimes squeaks when depressed. The driving position is a little awkward for me - the steering wheel lies too close to my thighs and I cannot see the top part of the instrument binnacle - so tacho is partially obscured. The ride is much better than the my old 900 but I would say the handling is inferior. I am considering the merits of getting some suspension tweaks, perhaps from Abbotts, to tighten things up - but only if this did not have any implications for my insurance premium. The car has the 225 bhp Aero engine but not the suspension settings. Any comments welcome Thanks Martin
