It is not as prevalent on the cars without cruise. The extra bulk is heavy and as the pawl wears, the spring cannot keep the lever in the up position. Solution: Disassemble (drill out rivets) and sharpen the pawl. or get a new one. or replace it with a non-cruise stalk and wire up switches elsewhere for cruise. Your choice!
