I agree with Keith's post - brushes on the regulator likely. It is possible on some regulators to replace them. But it's not so expensive to replace the whole regulator. For some Saabs it's possible to use a Bosch-labelled regulator (though make sure it's the right one of course ;-) I mention this because Saab often charge double for the same item, just because it comes via Saab. One more thing - you _have_ checked to ensure that the belt passing the alternator does have enough tension to spin it? Have a look both when the engine's cold and when it's up to temp, to see if there's too much slack or not. Tell us what it all turns out to be . . . regards, Robert, Gothenburg
