'87, I *think*. My '88 definately had the watercooled, and the '85's did not. So, right in there. You can recognize it pretty readily if you have the car in front of you, instead of just the oil lines going to the center section of the turbo, you'll see the coolant hoses as well. Hard to miss. In any case, it's not a showstopper if the car doesn't have water-cooling for the turbo. The turbo will give *plenty* of warning when it starts getting bad, long before it starts turning into gravel. > And what are the signs of wear in a classic 900 gearbox? Pinion bearing whine should be absent. I believe it was '89 when they beefed up those bearings, but even the pre-beefed trannies might be just fine. If there's a whine at roadspeed, which changes when you go from accelleration to decelleration, smile, shake the seller's hand, thank them for their time, and keep looking. It's a great car - I'm still not decided if I liked my classic 900T, or my current 9-5, better. Dave Hinz
